We already loved following Alexa Herrera on Instagram and her blog The Blushing Peach. With her enthusiasm for living an active lifestyle, and passion for travel, she seemed like the perfect Vayne Girl to represent our brand. Originally an LA native, Alexa spent some time in Hawaii, and eventually made the plunge to Australia to obtain her masters in public health. Beauty and brains, not only can she really work a camera - this girl is also very bright and plans to attend medical school in Queensland. We couldn't be more thrilled to have such a talented individual find an interest in our brand.
As a Cali-girl turned Aussie, Alexa's beachy vibes and distinct style, made her stand out among the crowd. She has a stunning eye for photo art direction, and such a creative take on playful, yet sexy portraits. Aside from exploring her new world in Australia, she also has a passion for exotic animals, yoga on the beach, and enjoys healthy eating as couple of her favorite pass times.
Recently Alexa spent the day shooting all over Australia, wearing some of her personal favorite Vayne tops! Check it out…

Additional Q&A's to learn more about Alexa's intriguing and extremely inspiring life.
1. What made you decide to study abroad in Australia?
It's a crazy story actually... I was originally planning on completing my final year on exchange in England, but due to course requirements for the University of Hawaii, the only place I could do so was in Australia. I got over here and hadn't done any research or planning whatsoever. But within a week I was mesmerized. Despite being an English-speaking country like the U.S., the way of life here is totally different. Even after having lived in Hawaii for 3 years on "Hawaiian time," I felt instant relaxation. You know how there are some places you visit, and you just go "ugh." Like, "yeah this is beautiful, but I don't mesh." Well, Australia for me was a "wow, I finally found my true home." I actually get all teary-eyed even writing this now, because if things had originally gone according to plan, and I had spent a year in the UK, I could have never found the treasure that I get to see and live in every day.
2. What got you interested in blogging? What has inspired you to blog? How did you get your start up?
Travel has always been a passion for me. I was extremely fortunate growing up, and traveled every summer and winter school breaks with my family, boyfriend's family, or friends. I went to a private catholic school in LA where rules were strict and the dress code even stricter, so traveling was a way for me to escape the guidelines and see something outside of my Los Angeles bubble. I think the biggest transition in my life was when I was 14 and did a 6 week immersion volunteer program in Costa Rica. On the trip, a small group of us worked on cleaning/preserving eco-tourism trails and built an entire school house from the ground up. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done, physically, emotionally, and mentally. I went a solid 4 weeks without a hot shower, slept on boards, and ate close to nothing. I came home 15 pounds lighter and was pretty sick by the end of it, but looking back now, it was the most amazing, cultural and eye-opening experience of my life. Since then, my time spent out of school is a reflection of this beautiful world and seeing and sharing every part of it. Blogging for me, is a way to do that....to share with people the blessing that life is, and how incredibly lucky we all are to be able to experience the beauty it holds. I started my blog about a year ago now, and it features exactly what I'm most passionate about: Travel, Healthy Living, and Community Involvement. On it, you can see extensive itineraries for budgeted travel, exotic destinations, off-the-beaten-path activities, food and accommodation recommendations, photo galleries, recipes, etc. I am not the "fastest" blogger around; i.e. I don't post every day like other bloggers, but only because I only want to put up something that is absolutely perfect. Quality over quantity, right?
As written on my homepage: "Every living creature should be celebrated for their strengths, weaknesses and dreams. One individual cannot be without another. It is in this co-existence that life prospers. Eat well, explore often, and learn all that you can, so that you may grow and enrich the life of not only yourself, but the entire world" .. Alexa
3. You've been studying to be a pediatric oncologist - and have a passion for a healthy living, travel, and fashion. What is the main thing you want people to take away from your blog?
I want people to feel empowered. That is my number one main goal for not only my blog or instagram, but my life. As cheesy as it sounds, I want to inspire people. We have all had setbacks or seen failures or sat at home thinking to ourselves "my god, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing." So for me, I don't want to be one of those bloggers or ambassadors for the "my life is perfect and this is how to lead a perfect life," but rather show people that even though we all experience bumps and bruises, at the end of the day/month/year, none of that sh*t is going to matter. Empower yourself. Let yourself be the person you've always dreamed of being, go see the places you've always wanted to go, do double denim, grab a raw cookbook and a spiralizer and, really, just experience everything that you possibly can. Stop letting other people tell you that you aren't good enough, skinny enough, smart enough, or whatever it may be. This is your life. Live it how you want to.
4. What are your plans/goals for the future?
Ooooooo so, so many! My boyfriend and I are backpacking across Europe this July/August, which I'm EXTREMELY excited for! We have planned this insane trip that will basically have us running around from dawn till dusk, but I absolutely can't wait (once I can figure out how to pack my backpack correctly because I feel like I'm gonna fall over with it on at the moment!). Then we come back to Australia for 5 days and will be moving to the Big Island of Hawaii with our little dog Harvey. I'll be working in my first "real" job at a hospital towards public health initiatives, and getting to practice everything I've become so passionate about. I'm also planning to open up a stall at the local farmers market and have freshly pressed juices and raw cakes for people to enjoy. I'm extremely excited to see all of my family again, though, because it's been years since I've hugged most of them. Then back to Australia, where I'm moving to Queensland! I live in South Australia at the moment, which is way, way too cold for me to be on a permanent basis. I grew up on coconuts and sunshine, so it will be a wonderful change, and new Aussie adventure, when I return. In between all this, I'm hoping to do some travel around the U.S., visit New Zealand again, go to Fiji, and look at an elephant conservation volunteer trip in either Thailand or Africa (suggestions welcome!)
